Watauga County, North Carolina historical site records 1880-1991 bulk 1987-1989.

Inventory forms, research notes, administrative files, maps, publications, photographs, and maps relating to the project's activities in identifying buildings of historical or architectural significance. The historical site inventory was coordinated by Dr. Carl A. Ross, former president of the Watauga County Historical Society and director of the Center of Appalachian Studies at Appalachian State University. The State Historic Preservation Office of the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources guided and funded this project. Appalachian Studies graduate students Deborah Thompson and Elizabeth Stevens conducted much of the research. Funding ended in 1989, leaving the project incomplete. A significant amount of information regarding Boone resident E.F. Lovill is included, including photocopies of related 1880 documents.
